The LSU women’s basketball team kicked off their season in spectacular fashion, dominating their season opener against Southeastern Louisiana University. The Lady Tigers displayed a potent blend of offensive firepower and stifling defense en route to a resounding 78-45 victory.

From the opening tip, LSU controlled the game with their aggressive play on both ends of the court. The Lady Tigers set the tone early with a suffocating defense that forced numerous turnovers and limited Southeastern Louisiana’s scoring opportunities. LSU’s defensive pressure led to easy transition baskets and allowed them to build a comfortable lead in the first half.

Offensively, the Lady Tigers showcased their versatility and scoring depth as several players contributed to the team’s offensive output. Senior guard Khayla Pointer led the way with a game-high 20 points, while sophomore guard Tiara Young added 15 points off the bench. LSU’s balanced scoring attack kept Southeastern Louisiana on their heels, as the Lady Tigers were able to score both inside and outside the paint.

In addition to their scoring prowess, LSU also dominated the glass, outrebounding their opponents by a margin of 45-29. The Lady Tigers’ dominance on the boards allowed them to control the tempo of the game and limit second-chance opportunities for Southeastern Louisiana.

Head coach Kim Mulkey, who is in her first season at the helm of the LSU women’s basketball program, was pleased with her team’s performance in their season opener. “I was really happy with how our team came out and executed on both ends of the court,” Mulkey said. “We were able to dictate the pace of the game and impose our will on our opponents.”

The impressive victory in their season opener sets the tone for what promises to be an exciting season for the LSU women’s basketball team. With a talented roster and a new coaching staff led by a Hall of Fame coach in Mulkey, the Lady Tigers have high expectations for the upcoming season.

As they look ahead to the rest of their schedule, LSU will aim to build upon their strong start and continue to showcase their dominance on both ends of the court. If their season opener is any indication, the Lady Tigers are poised to make a serious impact in the SEC and compete for a conference championship. The future looks bright for LSU women’s basketball, and fans have every reason to be excited about what lies ahead.
